I can't stand Furthur. All of a sudden they play the songs we all wished the dead would play but didn't. I used to go into shows and be like come on maybe a darkstar tonight (my wish came true 10/9/89) but St. Stephen, alligator, and violla lee blues to name a few. So to start bringing them out one pisses me off. I toured from 87 to 94. Walked out of the last show on he boston garden show in 94, and I was like fuck this..I'm done. I felt like everything was a joke. The music was no longer there, the people gate crashing, the scene had changed, and people were selling bogus shit on shakedown street. So for me I'll stick with my dead a how collection any day than go see Furthur...peace and B wild.....mike

As much as I loved Jerry, I hate to say this. There may have been a chance that he didn't want to play some of the more obscure and/or difficult songs when he was around. Wallowing deeply in his addiction(s) and health issues by the late 80's and into the early 90's, he may have just wanted to keep to what he remembered and possibly felt was easiest to play.

yea Jerry has remarked before that he (and others) would rather do a new song than rehash an old one. He used viola as an example of a song that ran its course and was played to death. I also wish they would've brought back those great old tunes. But what can ya do.
